The Phoenician Tavern Opens at The Phoenician

Scottsdale locals and resort guests flocked to “The Looooongest Happy Hour Party, Ever” on March 9, 2019 in celebration of The Phoenician Tavern Grand Opening.

Polished pub grub and craft beers are the new norm for this AAA Five Diamond resort eatery, creating a casual space on property to hang out and crack open a cold one with your buddies. Indulge in tasty bites from the menu of comfort food favorites, including the luscious Kale & Artichoke Dip, tempting Crazy Good Pretzels with pale ale cheddar fondue & house mustard and creamy Mac ‘n’ Cheese with buttered crumb topping.

For main courses, choose from a variety of gourmet burgers, including the Smokehouse Burger with prime beef, bacon, onions, smoked gouda and BBQ sauce; tasty sandwiches such as the Crab Roll and the Wagyu Tri Tip “French Dip”; “Classic Tavern Fare,” including Smoked Spare Ribs and Angus N.Y. Strip & Frites and refreshing, yet classic salads.

Dessert does not disappoint at this new joint, offering many sinful options, including the Hot Cookie Skillet with vanilla ice cream, Warm Beignets with hot chocolate fondue and the Hot Apple Pie with vanilla ice cream.

Located above the Golf Clubhouse, The Phoenician Tavern replaces Relish Burger Bistro. After eight months of redesign and renovation, the venue was completely transformed with a contemporary interior, stylish indoor/outdoor seating and modernized menu.

One fan-favorite that did carry over from the former Relish: the irresistible tater tots!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DISH ON THE MENU?

Chef Michael Press:

My favorite dish to eat is either the Fish and Chips or the Wood Fired Half Chicken…I just love the flavors.

WHICH DISH WAS YOUR FAVORITE TO CREATE?

Chef Michael Press:

That would definitely be the Lamb Burger.  I really wanted this dish to happen – I had never worked with lamb belly or made bacon from it; I was determined to do the research and come up with a recipe.  The other ingredients just seemed to come together to create a very well-flavored dish.

Antonia Esposito, Server

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DISH ON THE MENU?

Antonia:

Definitely the Smoked Wagyu Tri-Tip “French Dip” Sandwich because Chef put a lot of love into creating this dish. The meat is smoked in-house and the combo of the flavors – the sweet braised onions and the au jus sauce – all on the brioche bun make for the perfect representation of what the Tavern has to offer.

MOST POPULAR DISH?

Antonia:

The feel-good food is always a winner — the Fish and Chips and all of the burgers are the most popular among our guests.

Cameron Boyns, Bartender

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DRINK ON THE MENU?

Cameron:

It’s a tie — for a cocktail, my favorite is the Arcadia Collins, and for a beer, either the Dragoon, Santa Cruz’r Golden Ale or Uncle Bear’s Head to Tale Amber Ale. All of those drinks are refreshing, especially to drink on the open-air patio overlooking the golf course — no bad days here — just great vibes, great cocktails and great views.

MOST POPULAR DRINK?

Cameron:

Most ordered cocktail would be a Traditional Margarita — can’t go wrong with a margarita — and most ordered beer would be the Phoenician Pale Ale because it’s specially made by Four Peaks Brewery, exclusively for The Phoenician, most people want to come in and try this special drink they can only get here.
