The Perfect Girls’ Getaway at The Phoenician

In early June, myself and my friend Lindsey flew from Calgary to Phoenix and set out on an adventure: a 3-night backpacking trip deep into a section of the Grand Canyon where a waterfall oasis lies hidden. We hiked 25 miles carrying 30+ lb backpacks, played in waterfalls, and camped on red sandy shores around a crystal-clear river. It was an incredible experience!

However, by the end of the trip, we were completely ready for a good shower – and some serious pampering! We chose Scottsdale’s AAA Five Diamond resort The Phoenician as our post-hike home base, and The Phoenician provided all the luxuries, rest and relaxation we were craving!

Besides the obvious beauty of the resort, one of our first takeaways upon arrival was just how sweet the staff at The Phoenician are! They were so warm and welcoming to us, and very willing to grant our every wish.

We were then shown to our room, which we easily fell in love with! The room was colored in soft neutrals and had all of the amenities of home and more – including a giant soaker tub and walk-in shower in the bathroom!

Watching the sun set over the pool area from our private patio was amazing. We had the best sleeps in our room at The Phoenician, and the comfy beds were just what our tired bodies needed.

The next morning, we moved into full-on pamper mode. We started the day off with mimosas and a light, nutritious breakfast at the on-site Marketplace restaurant.

After breakfast, we enjoyed some seriously relaxing massages at the beautiful Phoenician Spa, then soaked in our blissed-out states in the Spa’s gorgeous facilities, complete with soak pools offering stunning mountain views.

After our spa appointment, we moved over to a private cabana rental at The Phoenician’s Mother of Pearl pool (yes, the pool was made of hand-laid Mother of Pearl tiles!) The Phoenician has a three-tiered pool area with a seemingly never-ending number of pools in different sizes and styles. However, the Mother of Pearl pool on the lowest level was my favorite. The tiles shimmered in the sunlight, and I was fascinated by their beauty!

Service at the pool was phenomenal, and I loved my watermelon margarita! We also tried the hummus and pita and it was so good we had to order a second one! The cabana was well appointed, offering ample shade (if we wanted it), a flat-screen television, an ice bucket with cold waters, and much more. I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend the rest of our day than relaxing in the pool around our private cabana at this gorgeous pool.

Our dinner reservation for the evening was at Mowry & Cotton, a beautiful tapas-style restaurant with delicious and unique dishes prepared by Chef Tandy Peterson. Every item we had was incredible and I’m still dreaming about the scrumptious brussels sprouts dish.

We ended our evening with cocktails at the Thirsty Camel Lounge, located near the reception area inside The Phoenician. This classy lounge served us the yummiest drinks and we loved the posh but relaxed atmosphere.

Needless to say, when our time at The Phoenician came to its inevitable end, we were bummed to leave! I can easily understand first-hand why The Phoenician is one of the best-rated resorts in Scottsdale. This was the perfect resort for a girls’ getaway to enjoy sunshine, a beautiful pool, the best spa experience and incredible food and drink.

Thanks, Phoenician, for such a fantastic stay, and we already can’t wait to return!
