The New Canyon Suites At The Phoenician
Offers The Most Personalized Service Yet

SCOTTSDALE Ariz.— March 16, 2007 – The grandeur, sophistication and exclusivity of The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician is being raised to an extraordinary new level, following $5.5 million in enhancements throughout all 60 guestrooms, the private lobby, pool, cabanas and meeting space. This, combined with a new menu of highly-personalized services, make The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician an exclusive boutique “hotel within a hotel” and a first in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

Originally opened in 1996, The Canyon Suites is a free-standing building on the most scenic locale at The Phoenician resort, situated at the base of landmark Camelback Mountain. The Canyon Suites’ intimate setting offers magnificent views rich with cacti, a flowing creek, cottontail rabbits and the rolling hills of the resort’s golf course and the Valley of the Sun beyond. Here, guests can take pleasure in the serenity and privacy of The Canyon Suites lobby and pool, yet enjoy convenient access to the rest of The Phoenician for world-class dining, entertainment and recreation. Now, The Canyon Suites experience is going several steps further.

“When we were looking at enhancing The Canyon Suites’ physical facility, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to elevate the entire experience, creating a more intimate service environment for our guests,” said Mark Vinciguerra, managing director and general manager of the AAA Five Diamond award-winning resort. “As part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection, we were guided by the core values to offer an ‘indigenous, exceptional, experience.’ From the moment a guest of The Canyon Suites arrives, a personal Phoenician Ambassador attends to every step of his or her itinerary down to the most finite detail. By doing this, we are introducing The Phoenician to a whole new market of guests who may prefer the smaller, boutique hotel experience.”

The Service, The Experience
The difference begins from the moment the reservation is made. Within 72-hours, a Phoenician Ambassador contacts the guest(s) to introduce him/herself and assist in planning their stay from the start. When the guest arrives, the check-in is done in the convenience of the guest room. The Ambassador will already know all of the guests’ preferences and presents an itinerary with restaurant reservations, dietary requests, childcare, spa appointments and tee times. Prior to departure, The Phoenician Ambassador arranges return airport transportation, any shipping needs and can pre-print airline boarding passes to make the trip home seamless. In addition, the ratio is one Phoenician Ambassador dedicated to every 10 rooms/20 guests.

For a warm welcome, special accoutrements in The Canyon Suites guestroom include a seasonal Exotic Fruit Amenity prepared daily by Executive Chef Paul Carter, along with complimentary waters. The brand of the water changes quarterly, with the first water being Tau. Tau water is from a source in the western Cambrian Mountains of Wales, United Kingdom. The word “tau” is an ancient Welsh word that means “to be silent,” making it a perfect match at turndown.

The Silver Service continues with a sterling coffee and tea wake-up call delivered each morning, while in The Canyon Suites lobby, specialty coffees, teas, biscottis and fruit are served by a Phoenician Food & Beverage Ambassador. Guests also have the choice of six newspapers (or another 400 news outlets available online, printed out) that are delivered to their doorstep.
Throughout the day, a sleek black or white S550 Mercedes Benz with a chauffer waits curbside to take guests to The Centre for Well-Being, The Phoenician Golf Club, for a day of shopping in Old Town Scottsdale, or to the trailhead for a hike of Camelback Mountain.

From 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Canyon Suites oenophiles may join in the lobby for a private Afternoon Wine Tasting with either Phoenician Cellar Master Sean Marron or Master Sommelier Greg Tresner. Every day, they choose from a range of topics and explore boutique families of vineyards. This is easy to do, as The Phoenician has approximately 44,000 bottles of wine and 2,500 selections in its cellar. The knowledge and passion for wine across the resort is infectious, as The Phoenician has 50 sommeliers throughout the property and Tresner is one of only 75 in the nation to earn the title of Master Sommelier.

As the evening comes to a close, the new Therapeutic Turndown service has the guest’s bathwater drawn with a variety of bath salts for the promise of relaxation at its finest.

For the pièce de résistance in the Canyon Presidential Suites, guest enjoy the added luxuries of a fully-stocked kitchen with a personal chef, signature hors d’ouevres, fresh flower arrangements throughout, complimentary roundtrip airport transportation, a complimentary poolside cabana, personalized stationery and a Phoenician robe embroidered with their initials when they return home. On a Presidential patio, firepits make for a wonderful way to unwind and appreciate the desert splendor. There are two Canyon Presidential Suites and each are 3,000 square feet.

Other special services and amenities for guests of all Canyon Suites include:
• Guaranteed reservations at all Phoenician restaurants and recreational activities
• Twice daily Housekeeping based around the guests’ schedule
• Two-Hour guarantee for clothes pressing
• Complimentary wireless, high-speed Internet in-room and poolside at The Canyon Suites (normally $22 per day at the main resort)

The Suite Luxury and Decor
Reminiscent of a classic, simple, sophisticated glamour, the new décor is from Aparia Design. The lobby ambiance is refined and welcoming with clean lines, plush fabrics, Chinese maple furniture and Italian marble. The chairs and couches are particularly inviting with crushed velvets in butter cream, aqua and mint, with handsome, hammered nail accents. Crackled glass vases, Lucite block lamps and floor-to-ceiling windows make for unique touches.

The guestrooms are stylishly arranged with a sofa sleeper and lounge chairs with similar rich fabrics. Geometric pewter vases, desert flower artwork and contrasting dark wood dressers and end tables echo the residential feeling of the lobby. Every suite has two flat panel televisions (a 42” in living room and a 32” in the bedroom, plus a 15” TV in each of the bathrooms of the Presidential Suites), along with a fax machine, scanner, printer, Bose stereo and iPod connectivity. Outside, wicker chaise lounges beckon guests to relax and enjoy the sun-kissed balcony.

In the bedroom, the crowning comfort is Sealy’s signature pillow-top beds, developed by orthopedic surgeons to perfectly cradle and contour the body. With layers of Sealy Foam, SuperSoft Sealy foam and Memory Foam, each mattress is 12.5 inches of pure comfort. Topped in lavish Italian linens from Rivolta Carmignani, this bed set is designed for a most restful sleep.

The Canyon Building has 38 one- and two-bedroom luxury suites (starting at 1,200 square feet); 20 standard Grand Deluxe guest rooms (at 600 square feet) which can each be connected to a suite; plus two, 3,000 square-foot Canyon Presidential Suites, for a total of 60 guestrooms.

The Ultra-Tech Red Rock Boardroom
For that important meeting where visuals are paramount, the centerpiece of The Canyon Suites is the Red Rock Boardroom, featuring $365,000 in cutting edge technology and design. The focal-point of the room is a hand-crafted mahogany conference table that seats 24, with eight 21-inch flat-screen monitors that rise from the tabletop. High-back, soft leather armchairs, leather meeting blotters and pen holders are at each setting, where boardroom attendees can access wireless Internet. State-of-the-art surround sound, data and video routing system are all controllable through a wireless touch- screen remote. There are two 65-inch plasma displays; one hidden behind a roll away painting, and the other with an interactive SMART board and touch-screen capability. A motorized projection screen in combination with a projector are concealed in the meeting room wall, providing a 72-inch image for computer or video display.

Specifically designed for video conferencing, this meeting space is equipped with three cameras concealed throughout the room and a dedicated Event Technology Butler toggles between video sources to capture each person speaking. This Butler works from the in-room control center and is prepared to assist with any technology questions. Additionally, an Event Meeting Specialist provides business services such as faxing, copying mailing, message delivery and restaurant reservations.
