The Phoenician’s New Red Rock Boardroom
Equipped with the Latest Technology...
SCOTTSDALE Ariz.— (March 13, 2007) – James Bond would be impressed. A click of the remote and eight flat screen monitors magically rise from a custom-designed mahogany conference table. With the click of another button, three in-room cameras swivel into place, ready for video conferencing. With one more click, the canvas painting rolls away revealing a hidden plasma monitor. Perhaps the best news? A dedicated Phoenician resort Event Technology Butler will press all those buttons, so the meeting presenter doesn’t have to.
With all of its über-cool technology, the new Red Rock Boardroom is a cornerstone in the $5.5 million renovation of The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz., making it one of the most impressive boardrooms in the country. Officially re-introduced March 1, The Canyon Suites is now an exclusive boutique “hotel within a hotel” offering exceptional, personalized services and tailored amenities tucked amid the 250 acres of The Phoenician resort. This concept is a first in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
“When we were looking at enhancing The Canyon Suites’ physical facility, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to elevate the entire experience, creating a more intimate service environment for our guests,” said Mark Vinciguerra, managing director and general manager of the AAA Five Diamond award-winning resort. “As part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection, we were guided by the core values to offer an ‘indigenous, exceptional, experience.’ From the new Red Rock Boardroom to the exquisite new décor and level of attentive services, The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician is a place where high-profile guests can be low-profile.”
“In the Red Rock Boardroom, the technology is paramount. For example, when a presenter uses the SMART board, it is similar to seeing a Monday Night Football commentator making X’s and O’s on the screen,” Vinciguerra added. “From there, boardroom attendees can use the plasma as a touch screen; they can mark up their presentations, print out the notes or download the changes to their laptop during the meeting.”
While in session, attendees are seated in comfort. With 24 high-back butter-soft leather armchairs, conference attendees have access to wireless Internet, where surround-sound, data and a video routing system are all controllable through a touch-screen remote.
First opened in 1996, The Canyon Suites is a free-standing building literally situated in the most scenic locale of The Phoenician resort grounds, at the base of Camelback Mountain. The Canyon Suites is a unique hideaway with magnificent views of Sonoran cactus, the rolling greens of resort’s championship golf course, as well as panoramic views of Valley of the Sun. The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician has its own porte cochére, lobby, pool, cabanas, cafe and parking garage, yet is close to all of the bustling excitement and amenities and of the main resort.
Planners looking for a unique, upscale and private spot for a corporate retreat will find the The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician to be an ideal destination. For overnight guests, the building has 38 luxury suites; 20 standard Grand Deluxe rooms that can each be connected to a suite, plus two 3,000 square-foot Canyon Presidential Suites, for a total of 60 guestrooms. The newly redecorated guest rooms are elegantly appointed with a modern décor of clean lines, furniture in lush velvets of ice blue and mint green, with Italian bed linens, flat screen televisions and iPod connectivity.
“From the moment a guest of The Canyon Suites arrives, a personal Phoenician Ambassador attends to every step of his or her itinerary down to the most finite detail,” Vinciguerra said.
Meeting attendees staying overnight in The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician enjoy “Silver Service” including a sterling tea or coffee wake-up call, chilled specialty waters and a seasonal fruit amenity prepared by Executive Chef Paul Carter daily. Housekeeping attendants are on standby 24 hours-a-day, so having clothes pressed for the next day’s meeting is just a phone call away. Meanwhile, a sleek black or white Mercedes with a driver is ready to chauffer guests to a spa appointment, round of golf, to the Camelback trailhead for a hike, or a day of shopping in Old Town Scottsdale.
Each day, guests of The Canyon Suites are invited to an Afternoon Wine Tasting with Cellar Master Sean Marron or Master Sommelier Greg Tresner, who explore boutique families of vineyards. Then, for a peaceful goodnight, The Canyon Suites’ new "Therapeutic Turndown" has the guest's bathwater drawn with a variety of soothing salts, for a most relaxing retreat.
