Easter visitors to The Phoenician will have the opportunity to meet three local celebrities with the launch of the children’s book, “It’s a King’s Life in Phoenix,” the second installment in a series of dog-friendly travel adventures by the Scottsdale husband-and-wife publishing team of photo illustrator Dan Merchant and author Emily Randolph.  The AAA Five Diamond resort will host a special book signing Sunday, March 31, on the East Lawn from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

In addition to the illustrator and author, the stars of the paperback, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Happy, Lady and Lucy, will be on hand for ‘pawtographs.’  Copies of the book, which introduces The Phoenician’s new mascot, a cottontail rabbit named Phoe-Phoe (fo-fo), will be available for purchase at $15.00 each.   Additional escapades featuring the loveable dog trio and Phoe-Phoe are currently being planned.

Drawn from the internationally renowned Diane and Bruce Halle Collection, Order, Chaos, and the Space Between presents works by Latin American artists who question the nature of the creative process.  Whether working on canvas, in sculpture, photography, video, or installation, these radical innovators have transformed traditional artistic languages into new ways of creating and conceiving works of art.  The works presented in this exhibition showcase the means by which artists working in Latin America have overcome their geographic marginality to initiate artistic currents that resonate on an international scale.  This exhibition is not a survey of Latin American art, but rather a snapshot of the dynamic Halle Collection at a particular moment in its continuing history.  It provides a window into many of the most significant trends in Latin American art from the mid-20th century to the present day.
